We Are Almost There….

I Did It My Way:

Well it’s been over 3 months now since I begun working on this site to bring it up to date to make it more worthy of what our brand is all about. Admittedly there are maybe a couple of small things still to iron out however the website is now looking totally revamped and a lot more informative which I’m proud to finally be able to say.

So far I’ve added and re-written 60 product pages, each page taking hours to put together. And I can assure you there has been zero help from AI software, something I first heard about half way through this project, apps that write descriptions for you, it’s like the end of humanity, or at least the degeneration of it….nope, not here! I’ve instead put in all the physical hours necessary to ensure BSB Genetics strains descriptions are true and born from my 17 years of knowledge and experience working with seeds. So please be gentle if you spot a typo as blood sweat and tears has almost literally gone into this site. However if you feel you can add to any of our descriptions please do get in touch, we are always learning and growing so invite all the knowledge we can get our hands on 🙂

 

A More Informative Site:

Alongside completely re-written more in-depth and knowledge based strain descriptions I have also added listings for ‘Aroma’s’ and ‘Effects’ so at first glance you can immediately get a better idea of the strains characteristics. I have also added the full listing of terpenes (in order of major to minor) and below the strains description I have added a quick link where you can learn all you need to know about the dominant terpene’s characteristics from a medicinal, flavour and aroma point of view.

This information combined with the other statistics such as the strains parentage, the genetics, the flowering time, yield, flavours and THC levels will aid you in making a more informed choice about which seeds you wish to purchase. However I am always just an e-mail or Instagram message away if you require any clarification or further information (I don’t bite :D).

I will soon begin work on a page where terpenes are properly (I’ll attempt ‘professionally’) explained….if I can find somewhere first to squeeze it in here.

 

Online Payments Through This Site: 

Once the site is completely completed then I’ll reach out to a firm who have promised me a solution to this 13 year old problem since PayPal first kicked me out and black listed my name in 2010. It’s been a 13 years headache which I’ll be very relieved to put behind me and I’m keeping my fingers very firmly crossed that there isn’t another unforeseen hurdle looming.

 

Product Earth:

In our last blog I mentioned exciting news about Product Earth, however in the time since we have decided we’ll only be attending this years event as mere mortal visitors instead of legendary exhibitors. The decision has been a financial one as we look more to investing into emerging overseas markets after a large decline in UK trade this past 12 months which all but guarantees the event would return a huge loss for us as last years event did. But if you attend keep an eye open for us, we’ll be the one’s throwing business cards and flyers at everyone 😀 (If anybody wishes to meet with us there just drop us a line and we can make it happen).

 

The US Adventure:

We are almost there, only the completion of this site stands in the way of us making the calls which get the ball rolling. We’ll be loud about it once it begins! If that process runs smoothly then we are looking at other new markets globally, potentially Canada, South America and Thailand if all goes well.

Website Update & News on the US launch

2023 is officially up and running here at BSB. Read on to hear about where we are, what we’ve experienced this past 12+ months and what happens next…

WEBSITE UPDATE 😀

In February 2022 the product pages off this website simply vanished. The site was down for a few days while a payment in the background was being made and when the site came back online our product pages were simply gone. Our hosting company couldn’t help us and it appeared the blame lay elsewhere. For many years now I’ve been attacked by banks, web hosts, shipping companies, business property landlords, social media platforms and the list goes on, so in truth I wasn’t surprised that I suddenly found myself with a website with no product pages.

Simply put I turned my back on this site and the idea was to have a brand new website built from the ground up and so the search for a new web host and partner to build a new site for me begun. As the months ticked by a couple of firms came and went and then from August 2022 and new friendly / working relationship begun with another UK based seeds bank and the lady in charge there begun building a new website for me over the winter period. Everything appeared to be going great, some new artwork was produced and the site was coming together nicely. Then in March, just 4 weeks ago, we discovered that the payment solutions partner we are set to work with don’t support the system our new website was being built on, simply put a few months of work came to a sudden halt.

So my attention was diverted back to my site here which is built on a platform our payment solutions partner work with, but after my experience of February 2022 I really didn’t want to return back to this platform having felt like I had yet again been a victim of attack for my chosen trade. However I decided to try and tackle this myself and with little to no experience I simply rolled my sleeves up and jumped into the deep end.

Long story short and a few updates later and my product pages were back, it was one of those jump up in the air and celebrate moments, BSB was back. However probably 50% of the strain images were missing from the site and almost all of the strain descriptions were old, outdated and needed to be re-written.

So I’ve spent the last 4 weeks, around child care responsibilities, updating the imagery and re-writing the strain descriptions, it’s still very much a work in progress, but it’s progressing. I’m estimating another 3-4 weeks before the entire site is brought up to date. Other issues such as the site not displaying properly on mobile devices still need to be looked into and worked out, but have faith in me as I’m learning the ropes here, keeping the costs down and ensuring BSB seeds for that reason can remain very competitively priced.

I didn’t want to update the blog until I was sure that things were once again running smoothly here, so it’s a relief I am now able to explain here where the site is at and also why I’ve been awol from my Instagram page this last couple of weeks as I use up every available hour wisely here for bigger things to come….

BSB COMING SOON TO THE UNITED STATES

We are very much on the brink now of this becoming a reality. The final hurdle appears to be this website, it was my personal choice not to push forwards with launching BSB on the US market while this site has remained broken, incomplete and out of date, it just wasn’t a good image for anyone in the US who doesn’t know who we are or what we are about. With this end goal on my mind I have and I remain very much driven to get this site completed asap without cutting corners. However we have a distributor lined up to supply retail outlets around the US, our seeds are already safely in the US and the packaging is ready. It feels somewhat surreal being able to say we are so close after 9+ years of US demand for BSB Genetics 😀

PRODUCT EARTH 2023

Early plans are being put together for us to again attend Product Earth this year, however we are joining forces with another absolutely fantastic seed bank and are prepping to go bigger, brighter and louder. I’ll say no more on this until pen is put to paper and the deposits are paid but it’s exciting times for sure and our energy levels will be off the chart at the event.

NEW WEBSITE BEING BUILT – PRODUCT EARTH 19th-21st AUGUST

WEBSITE ISSUES – BUT WE ARE STILL HERE :D

Despite the recent problems with this site please rest assured we are trading as normal, feel free to pop over to our shop as normal, we also have a couple of brand new exciting strains in stock….Watermelon Zkittles and Glookies 🙂

 

WEBSITE ATTACK ??

In recent weeks our website domain needing renewing and so for a few day the site was offline while that process was underway. However once the website was re-published by our host we noticed the product pages had been completely deleted / removed which we presume could only have been done by WordPress themselves who this site is built through. At that time there were no products (seeds for sale) visible on our site or even in the background editing section, everything, pictures and descriptions, was gone. It appeared that someone from WordPress had been into the editing section for this site and simply hit delete maliciously erasing 7 years of work?

However I have just today logged back in to the editing side of this site to see that magically all of the product pages and full plant descriptions have re-appeared, however the imagery is still all missing. Apparently all the products (strains) are currently published, live and visible to the public which is absolutely not the case? I’m about as far as it is possible to get from being a computer whizz so this has me totally baffled and I am unsure still if this is a specific attack on my site for being canna related or not? And unsure if I can make the products again visible to the public?

 

NEW WEBSITE FOR BSB GENETICS

I have made no secret of it for the last 6 months that once we could guarantee a regular supply of seeds coming to us through customs that I plan on having a brand new site built for me from the ground up, a more professional looking site which better represents the brand and what we are all about. The plans have somewhat stalled the last couple of weeks since we secured 2 shipments of seeds due to the mass of information stored here which appeared to be completely lost. So with todays discovery that the plant descriptions are still here this gives me hope that very soon work on a new site can begin. I can’t stamp a time for completion etc as there will no doubt be a mammoth amount of work to carry out, but I can assure everyone that I am working with the best people in the industry to make this an eventual reality.

 

NEW SEEDS & STRAINS IN STOCK

In the last few weeks we have taken delivery of 2 new batches of seeds including the 2 new strains mentioned above ‘Watermelon Zkittles’ and ‘Glookies’. We have re-stocked on Blackberry Rocks and Banana Kush which are our top 2 sellers, so be fast if you want those as  deliveries of seeds are still not absolutely guaranteed, we had to wait 8 months to get these new consignments ordered. We have also topped up on many other strains including Five Alive, Purple Berry Punch, Wedding Cake, Mimosa, Rainbow Glue, Chunky Pineapple and more, but stocks are limited and the bulk of what we order from our breeders goes out to our wholesale partner leaving us shorter on stocks we carry in store ourselves. However it’s nice to report a positive in that both consignemts of seeds recently ordered cleared customs without a hiccup which is due to the last 6+ months of hard and costly work behind the scenes with our breeders to ensure this eventuality.

 

FINAL THOUGHTS

The future still isn’t clear, it never truly will be for our trade as we are very much a frowned upon industry for the very simple fact that cannabis / hemp has the power to change the world, and so it is that the leaders of the world all want to supress, silence and see us eradicated to protect their own investments into such trades as the oil industry, the cotton industry, the pharmaceutical industry, the paper industry, the food industry and so on.

But what I have always known working now 16 years in this sector is that it is built up of some of the most amazing and resilient peaceful and loving people this world has to offer and that together we always have and always will continue to grow and strengthen throughout times of adversity.

BSB Genetics is no stranger itself to an onslaught of attacks from multiple high street banks, landlords, customs, website hosts, merchant services and the refusal to work with us from the likes of accountants, insurance companies, local services etc etc.

But here we still are, and here we will always remain, and we are doing it for you, for everyone, for the planet, but mostly I’m doing this for my children, for my true purpose in life.

European Re-Launch, New Strains & Updates

BREXIT & BANKING DIFFICULTIES      

2021 has been challenging to say the least, the introduction of the Brexit bill has been nothing short of a nightmare scenario for seeds distributors based within Britain, our orders of seeds are being confiscated by customs despite them being completely compliant and legal…this is no less than an attack on our trade. To add to the nightmare scenario I also lost my most recent banking partner of over 4 years at the start of July, again no word given for why they decided to kick me out. Only recently I have established a new UK bank account but no trading of seeds can be done through that account, only smoking accessories which leaves me still in a difficult situation with no UK based bank able to offer their services. However there are options which for now can be used and I am about to test the waters and place a new order for seeds, the first since June, and priority strains on that list are Banana Kush, Blackberry Rocks, Chunky Pineapple, Wedding Cake and new to ‘The Cali Collection’….Glookies.

BSB RE-LAUNCHES IN EUROPE

BSB Genetics however is continuing to go from strength to strength despite these unprecedented times and we are proud to announce that we are now once again being distributed across Europe from our wholesale distribution partner ‘Basil Bush Spain’. There have been around 5 months of background work to make this happen and it is a truly unique opportunity which see’s BSB Genetics as the only UK seed bank who’s entire collection of genetics is available outside of the UK….it’s a true honour to have been offered this opportunity and I grabbed it quickly with both hands and have put in the time and effort to see it come to reality. Brexit cannot hold us back!

Once solutions are in place to ensure the smooth banking and running of the business I plan to have a brand new website professionally built from the ground up to represent the entire BSB Genetics, The Cali Collection and Eazy Seeds collections. I cannot promise an online payment option just yet but that hopefully will be incorporated if I can first establish with a new banking partner accepting of my trade.

As mentioned above ‘Glookies’ (GG#4 x GSC) will soon be entering ‘The Cali Collection’ range (£38.99 for 5 or £64.99 for 10 fem seeds) and we have some other exciting new releases to announce once we have the seeds in stock including a fast finishing version of a legendary strain which took the world by storm 10 years ago!

THE CALI COLLECTION UPDATE

The following name changes are being applied to these ‘The Cali Collection’ strains: Cali Dream is now Blueberry Dream / Cali Wreck is now Train Wreck / Cali Cherry Pie is now Cherry Pie / Cali OG Kush is now OG Kush / Cali Cookies is now Girl Scout Cookies / Cali Crack is now Green Crack / Cali Sherbet is now Sunset Sherbet. These name changes are immediately in effect for European distribution and will be following on in the UK shortly as older packets sell out and newer seeds on the new packaging replace them.

DISCOUNTINUED STRAINS

I’ll be adding the details of these to the ‘Bulk Offers’ menu here and the price drops will also be advertised in store, but not available for European distribution, only directly from our Birmingham based store. Letting go of our slower selling varieties allows for us to bring on board new and exciting strains and will also allow our customers the opportunity to get these strains for rock bottom prices while remaining stocks last. The current strains I’ve definitely decided are getting the axe are BSB Cheddar #1, Blue Cheddar #1, Cali SFV OG, and Lemon Garlic OG. Positive Times Ahead – New Strains now in!

Hi all, it feels great to finally be bringing some positive news after such a horrific year, so here goes…

EUROPEAN DISTRIBUTION SOLUTION
As many people will be aware Brexit has pretty much destroyed a large proportion of the UK seeds industry due to customs now refusing to allow cannabis seeds into or out of the UK.
This has meant our overseas distributor Zamnesia have seen stock levels of our seeds dry up, however that’s set to change and BSB Genetics is about to take Europe by storm.
Until the new system is officially up and running in the coming weeks I won’t give away the ins and outs, but I can confirm that overseas wholesale distribution will very soon be up and running from Spain allowing European customers to purchase BSB seeds more easily than ever before.

Stocks running out due to Brexit & updates

BREXIT PROBLEMS
So as many of you will know by now Brexit has brought with it nothing but problems for the seeds trade, essentially ending the supply of seeds into Britain. This is having devastating effects no doubt for everyone involved in the seeds trade as well as for end consumers who can no longer simply pop in to their local seeds supplier and pick up their favourite strains due to stocks drying up.
Nobody can give us any advice on what will happen next or if it will, but we cannot simply give up on our chosen trade and call it a day, we will find a way, and I personally don’t know how to quit, so regardless of this mess BSB Genetics will continue to grow and prosper, that is my promise.

PSYTOSANITARY CERTIFICATION PROCESS
This is simply a process put in place under Brexit laws which means all plant products coming into Britain must first be inspected by an official authorised body for pests and diseases. Once cleared the consignments carry with them the required certification paperwork so that they are allowed to cross over our border.
All well and good, if your importing tomato seeds! Part of this process requires that all plant products within the consignments being imported must be clearly labelled on the outside of the parcel. What this allows is for customs to easily sniff out and identify all hemp / cannabis related goods so they can ensure we don’t receive them.
Is this legal? Well who can we complain to?
Our breeder has over the last 6 weeks attempted 3 times to get another parcel of seeds over to us (9000 seeds we have already paid for) using FedEx. First they sent a batch of 1000 free hemp seeds complete with the certification paperwork and they arrived the very next day. Excellent, so I gave to go ahead to release the main order. But 3 times FedEx have returned the parcel to our breeder. The first attempt made it into Britain before being returned. The 2nd attempt never made it past Charles De Gaule (France) and the 3rd attempt never even made it out of Barcelona.
But we won’t quit trying.

FRESH SEEDS IN STOCK
Some good news. On April 1st (I’m not fooling you) we received a batch of seeds we initially ordered from our breeder on December 16th! UPS had held onto the consignment since receiving it in January and we honestly believe someone in their warehouse slipped up as those seeds should never have arrived with us, but somehow they did. Germination tests were completed with excellent results in sub-standard conditions so the seeds are now on sale.
The strains just re-stocked are: Banana Kush, The Runtz, Mimosa, Gorilla Glue #4, Bruce Banner #3, Strawberry Banana & Stardawg, so currently we are well stocked on these strains, how long for only remains to be seen.

OUT OF STOCK / LOW ON STOCK
Unfortunately we are running low on some varieties and essentially out of stock of the following: Auto Strawberry Milkshake (70 seeds left), LSD Ultra (call us), Wedding Cake (call us) & Skywalker Cookies.
A complete stock check has been completed this week and we now know the above strains and a couple of others will not be available for wholesale distribution for the foreseeable future, so if you see them ‘in stock’ anywhere online grab them fast.

HOW TO PURCHASE THROUGH LOCKDOWN & THE BREXIT SITUATION

STORE CLOSED
As many people have noticed we have had to keep our store closed throughout this current lockdown after a direct threat from West Midlands police & Birmingham City Council. Crazy situation of a threat while the shop wasn’t even open!

So here’s what you can do to get your hands on our seeds throughout this and no doubt more upcoming lockdowns:

1) PURCHASE ONLINE
In the menu top of this page you will find the section “How to Purchase”. In this section is a list of direct links to trusted online sellers who all carry our strains and will look after you well.

2) CLICK & COLLECT
Please contact me directly through e-mail to leemallett45@sky.com or through our ‘BSB Genetics’ page on Instagram and we can arrange a time for you to collect your purchases (minimum spend £50 for this service).

BREXIT
Brexit has unfortunately brought with it new rules on importing plant seeds into Britain, a new certification process is in effect which appears to threaten the existence of our trade. We are confident a way forwards will be found but we are still in the early days.
As it stands we have a batch of 9000 seeds ordered from our breeder on December 16th which are still being held by UPS who are refusing to deliver our seeds to us or return them to our breeder. For this reason we have recently ran low or out of stock of Banana Kush & Stardawg, but today we have received new stocks through a different channel, so supplies are now available again after a tough & stressful period.

Please be re-assured that BSB Genetics will continue to grow and flourish even through these uncertain times with Covid & Brexit hammering down on our trade. We still have the above methods available for trading with you and behind the scenes I am still working round the clock to keep on top of stock production and of course hunting for the next new varieties to add to our collection.
